Then you know that your books dates from between 1940 and 1955.

To date it more precisely you can use the 'catalogue' in the back of the book. The catalogue is the page usually found at the back of an old Ladybird book that list other ladybird books in print at that time. As long as you know the date of publication of these books you can work out roughly when your book came out. You can use my lists (see the Bookshop on the home page) to establish this. Just check the appropriate series list and refer to the date of first publication.
