The second of the two ‘Kings and Queens’ books of the 1960s, written by L du Garde Peach. This title was later revised – first to give it a new-look cover and then subsequently it was completely re-written and re-illustrated (taking away just about all of its considerable charm in the process). But this copy is the original.
The vivid, startling illustrations are by Frank Hampson. All the other history books of this era (Series 561) are illustrated by John Kenney.
Matt boards, Kings and Queens of England, book 2. Good condition generally. Extra shelf-wear to the back cover. A cancelled name and pink smudge to endpapers. Reading pages generally pretty clean. It dates from the early 1970s and has the original price of 15p printed on the back.
