Peter and Jane 4b 1960s

£2.00

There were 36 book in total in the Key Words reading scheme – the Peter and Jane books.  Each of 12 levels was divided into three: a, b and c.  The ‘a’ books introduced new vocabularly which was reinforced in the ‘b’ books while the ‘c’ books tended to focus on writing, spelling and phonics.  Book 4b Fun at the Farm was first published in 1965.  It was written by William Murray and illustrated by Harry Wingfield.

This matt copy is the original 1960s version but it has been covered in clear plastic and has some school stamps on the endpapers/title page.  Given that, the contents are in pretty good condition – the pages are clean, with no tears or writing. It’s an early edition – dating from around 1967.

I wouldn’t normally put a book in this condition on my website ‘shop’ – but it’s such a charming book with stunning illustrations that it will make a very good nostalgia trip for someone or will fill a gap for a collector until a better copy comes along.
