The Fireman, Series 606b matt (DJ)
£3.00
The Fireman 1962 was the 1st book to be issued in series 606b. It was written by Vera Southgate and J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry. This book is one of my earliest Ladybird memories; I loved all the exciting scenes of red fire-engines, dramatic rescues and the wondeful fireman’s pole scene.
This copy still has it’s original DJ – not price-clipped. The DJ has probably been protected at some time in its life by a clear sleeve (long gone) because there are some brown residue marks on the DJ flaps and endpapers. There is also a scar on the front panel where a price sticker must once have been (see photo) and a closed tear top left. The book is in good, used condition with good reading pages. A couple of small library stamps give a clue to the book’s history. I believe this copy to be a first edition.
