Great Civilisations Crete, 1976, Series 561

Great Civilisations Crete was was written by Clarence Greig and illustrated by Jorge Nunez.  This book was the last of the history series originally issued with a more traditional cover style but is more commonly found in this style.  This is a ‘transition book’.  Inside the book has begun to lose the traditional format of text on the left and illustration on the right – on some pages the text straddles both.

There were 6 different titles in the Great Civilisations books, and I’m sure most of them were the basis of many a school project in the 70s and 80s.

This copy:

Matt boards.  This book is in very good condition inside and out.  With a mainly white cover, these books get grubby quickly but this one is still very clean. There’s the odd rub to corners and dent on the spine.  There’s a neat owner’s name on the endpapers.  It dates to the late 1970s.
