Jack and the Beanstalk, 1970, 606d

£7.00

Jack and the Beanstalk, first published 1965.  illustrated by Eric Winter and written by Vera Southgate.  This was the 4th title in the popular original Well-Loved Tales series, 606d.

Winter works his usual magic to create a wonderous beanstalk and a scary ogre – although I can’t say I ever warmed to Jack in this tale.  He seemed a bit of a brat.

This copy:

Matt boards.  In fair to good condition externally – see photos – but almost VG inside.  The edges and corners are well rubbed and the spine is beginning to split in one place. There are pen marks on the cover and the top of the spine is heavily bumped.  Inside I’ve described it as ‘almost VG’ because there’s a very small pen mark on the letter ‘A’ on one text page – otherwise the contents pages are in good shape.  It dates to the 1970s and has an original price of 40p on the back.
