Mick the Disobedient Puppy, 1952, (DJ)

Mick the Disobedient Puppy   is the eighth in the ‘Animal Stories’ series, 497.   As with the other books in this series, it was written by Noel Barr and illustrated by Percy Hickling.

This is a storybook intended to be read to young children.  Most of the stories deal with ‘naughty’ animals and the lessons they learn by the end of the book.  ‘Mick’ is no exception – although perhaps here the family learn just as much in terms of understanding the importance of a good fire-guard and stone hearth.

This  copy is in good condition inside and with an unprice-clipped DJ in good condition – now protected by a clear, removeable sleeve.  There is a little corner and edgewear and some fading to the DJ but most notable fault is a brown mark on the cover.  The cover design means that the mark is much less conspicuous than it might be (see photos).  Inside the pages are clean and bright.  The book has blue open-winged endpapers.
