Kings and Queens of England, Book 1, 1968

The first of the two ‘Kings and Queens’ books of the 1960s, written by L du Garde Peach. This title was later revised – first to give it a new-look cover and then subsequently it was completely re-written and re-illustrated (taking away just about all of its considerable charm in the process).
The vivid, startling illustrations of the original version are by Frank Hampson. All the other history books of this era (Series 561) are illustrated by John Kenney.

This matt copy is in very good condition inside and out but for the back cover – as you can see in the photos, a previous owner has used it as a tick-list of titles.  Otherwise only light wear, nice clean page.  This copy dates to the 1970s and has the original price of 18p on the back.
