Public Services: Gas, Series 606e (1st ed)

£5.00

Techically Gas, 1967, doesn’t belong to the ‘People at Work’ series – but in every sense that counts it does – artist, writers, and era.  It was the second of the 3 ‘Public Services’ books in series 606e, written by I & J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry.   John Berry’s photorealism can take a rather dry subject and make it engaging.

This matt copy is in good condition externally and VG inside – only light wear to the edges, some bumping head and foot of spine but a couple of red stickers on the red back cover (see photos).  These would remove cleanly with patience and a dab of lighter fuel.  Inside the odd minor blemish but generally nice, clean pages.  It dates to the 1960s, was originally priced at 2/6 and, with a tally number of 180, I believe it to be a first edition.
