Alexander the Great, 1963, Series 561 (DJ)

Alexander the Great was the 17th title in the 561 series, colourfully written by L du Garde Peach and illustrated by John Kenney.

This book was one of the last ever to be originally issued with a dustwrapper.

This copy still has its original, unprice-clipped, DJ which has been protected with a removeable dustwrapper sleeve.  I didn’t remove the sleeve for the photo – hence the shine in the pictures.  The sleeve must have been added at a later date: although the DJ is in smooth condition, there is wear to the edges and the odd nick or blemish.  Inside, the DJ flaps have pen marks to them – a small name and address to the front DJ flap and numbers an ticks to the list of titles on the back DJ flap (not pictured – but this is the book’s worst fault).  Still a good condition copy of a book it’s quite hard to find complete with DJ.  All in all a decent condition copy of what I believe to be a first edition.
