British Wild Flowers, 1957 edition.  Series 536.

The illustrations of the beautiful book are a collaboration between a  husband and wife team.  The great watercolour artist Rowland Hilder painted the background while Edith Hilder produced the exquisite foreground botanical studies.  The two also collaborated with equal success on the Shell Guide posters of the same decade.

Matt boards in no better than ‘good’ condition inside and out (see photos).  The boards are rather worn and scuffed at the edges.  There are a few other minor marks and blemishes and rather musty endpapers and an owner’s name/inscription.  Nice, clean reading pages.  This copy dates from the 1970s and has the original revised price of 15p on the back.
