Great Civilisations Egypt, 1973, Series 561 (Original)

Great Civilisations Egypt was one of the last books in the long-running Ladybird history series.  It was written by E J Shaw and illustrated by Jorge Nunez.  This book was originally issued with a more traditional cover style but is more commonly found with a later blue-framed cover style.  The cover is the only change – either way, inside the book has the traditional format of text on the left and illustration on the right.

There were 6 different titles in the Great Civilisations books, and I’m sure most of them were the basis of many a school project in the 70s and 80s.

This copy:

Matt boards with the original pictorial cover style.  This book is in very good condition inside and out – only minor blemishes, including a nick to the back cover (see photo).  A very good copy of  a hard-to-find edition.  With a tally number of 330, I believe it to be a first edition.
