Learning to Crochet, 1972, Series 633.
This is the 15th book in the Hobbies series, 633. It was written by Wynne Broughton and was illustrated by the Eric Winter (better known for his fairy-tale illustrations).
So many of us will have made (or at least started) some of the projects in the book – either at home or at school. I never really learned to crochet anything except long chains and when I tried to teach myself to make ‘granny squares’ recently, I first sought help on YouTube, where there are many, many tutorials. I didn’t make much progress so I dug out this book and started from the beginning. And finally learnt how to do it! Thanks, Ladybird.
It’s quite a hard-to-find book these days.
This copy:
Matt boards, in VG condition but for two minor problems: a nick on the front near the spine and some rippling to the back cover. Otherwise only light wear to the boards and with nice, clean pages. It dates to the 1970s with the original price of 24p on the back I believe it to be a first edition.
