Flight Five Africa (matt)

Flight Five Africa was the 5th of the Travel Adventure series, 587, written by David Scott Daniell and boldly illustrated by Jack Matthew.  The series featured two children, Alison and John accompanying Daddy on exciting trips around the world.  Alison and John are very eager beavers, always keen to research their destination, study maps and learn more about social and geo-political history.  So this makes them fascinating reading today – capturing as it does the lingering assumptions of empire, of Commonwealth and of a burgeoning new world order that still places Britain at its centre.  The early versions of the book are to be found with dustwrapper.

This copy matt copy is in VG condition.  There’s not much wear to the boards.  Slight foxing to the endpapers but the main pages are nice and clean.  It dates to the 1960s and has the original price of 2/6 printed inside.
