Nelson, 1965, Series 561 (DJ)

Nelson was the 4th title in the 561 series, colourfully written by L du Garde Peach and illustrated by John Kenney.

In this lively telling of the life of the Nelson, Peach dwells on battles and victories.  The complex personal life and gossip that fascinated contemporary comentators is not mentioned at all.  Neither wife nor mistress feature in the story at all.

This copy still has it’s original DJ (not price-clipped) in VG condition. There’s some foxing/discolouration to the front DJ panel, a small mark on the back panel and two titles have been underlined on the back DJ flap (see photos).  Inside the book is also in VG condition, although a name has been cancelled out in black felt pen which can be seen on the first text page (see photo).  The book has blue open-wing endpapers and the back dj flap lists down to David Livingstone.
