Peter and Jane 2c 1960s

There were 36 book in total in the Key Words reading scheme – the Peter and Jane books.  Each of 12 levels was divided into three: a, b and c.  The ‘a’ books introduced new vocabularly which was reinforced in the ‘b’ books while the ‘c’ books tended to focus on writing, spelling and phonics.  Book 2c Enjoying Reading was first published in 1965.  It was written by William Murray and illustrated by Martin Aitchison.

This matt copy of 2c is the original 1960s version.  It is in fairly good condition but with a few minor flaws: inconspicuous pen marks to the top left of the cover above the number (see photo)  and inside a child has ever filled in the gaps on the exercise pages – but this is mainly in pencil and would mainly erase.  The book dates from the 1970s and has an original price of 24p on the back.
