Peter and Jane 3c Let me Write 1970s (transition version)

£3.00

There were 36 book in total in the Key Words reading scheme – the Peter and Jane books.  Each of 12 levels was divided into three: a, b and c.  The ‘a’ books introduced new vocabularly which was reinforced in the ‘b’ books while the ‘c’ books tended to focus on writing, spelling and phonics.  Book 3c Let Me Write  was first published in 1965.  It was written by William Murray and this version was illustrated by Martin Aitchison.

This matt copy is a ‘transition’ version – that is to say that it follows the basic format of the original version of these books – but has the revised style artwork of the 1970s onwards.  Only a small number of books were ever published like this and they weren’t in print for very long – so that can make them quite hard to find today.

This copy is in very good condition, inside and out.  Inside, the blanks have been filled in by a child and there’s also a pencil inscription on the front endpapers – but these are in pencil and should erase reasonably well.  A decent copy of a harder-to-find book.  It dates to the 1970s and has the original price of 24p on the back.
