This is the 23rd book in the Nature series, 536.  Pond Life was written by Nancy Scott and was one of only three Ladybird books to be illustrated by Jill Payne.  This book is a beautiful balance between picture book and field guide and works on both levels.  The lovely illustrations make sure that the humblest water beetle is seen as a thing of beauty.

This matt copy is in very good condition inside and out – only light wear to the edges and very nice clean pages – but with a rather attractive book-plate (prize for good attendance) to the front free endpaper.  It dates to the 1970s and has an original price of 30p on the back.
