Puss in Boots, 1969, 606d (first ed, scruffy)

£4.50

Puss in Boots, 1967.  This book, illustrated by Eric Winter, was the 10th book in the original series of 27 Well-Loved Tales books – but it stayed in print for the longest.   The text, as always in the books of this series, was written by Vera Southgate.

Usually the tales with lots of magical animals in them were given to Robert Lumley to illustrate but in this book, Eric Winter demonstrates just how well he can bring the charismatic ‘Puss’ to life with energy and humour.

This copy:

Puss in Boots, matt boards, illustrated by Eric Winter.  This copy has heavy wear to the spine and corners and the spine paper is torn and lifting in a couple of places.  The pages are well-turned and there’s the odd spot, small tear or blemish – but it is essentially sound and is the rare first edition (tally number 190).
