Shepherd Boy of Bethlehem, Series 522 (DJ)

The Shepherd Boy of Bethlehem was the 2nd book to be issued in series 522.  (Other bible stories are to be found in an later Ladybird series: 606a.)

It was written by Lucy Diamon, illustrated by Kenneth Inns and was originally issued with a dust jacket.   It’s a pity that Inns didn’t illustrate many books for Ladybird; he had a lovely touch and sense of colour.

This copy still has its original dustwrapper (not price-clipped). There’s very little wear to the DJ and the reading pages are clean and tight.  There’s a mark on the grey-brown open-winged ladybird endpapers and a rather charming book plate to the free endpaper, dated 1960.
