The Car Makers, Series 606b

£6.00

The Car Makers 1968 was the 13th book to be issued in series 606b.  It was written by I & J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry.   This book focuses on the development of a new model from concept to manufacture and is based on the car production plants of the Midlands which were thriving at this period.  There was a long-standing connection between Ladybird book and the Motor Industry; before children’s book publishing took over, a core component of the work of Wills & Hepworth had been printing for the car industry – particularly Rover.  It’s a real slice of British 20th century history.
