The Pottery Makers 1969 was the 15th book to be issued in series 606b. It was written by I & J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry. This book focuses on ‘The Potteries’ in the 1960s – the then-thriving industry centred on Stoke-on-Trent. It is one of the rare books in the series that show women at work in British industry, engaging in activities at a similar level to men.
This copy:
This matt copy is in very good condition inside and out but for a scuff top left of cover and a name and some foxing to endpapers front and back. Otherwise very good clean pages. With a tally number of 250, I believe it to be a first edition although there’s a revised price of 15p on the back cover.
