The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids, 1969. This book, illustrated by Robert Lumley, was the 16 book in the original series of 27 Well-Loved Tales books. The text, as always in the books of this series, was written by Vera Southgate.
As usual, the tales with lots of magical animals in them were given to Robert Lumley to illustrate but in this book, and here he uses humour, energy and observation to create images that will create real drama for a young child at bedtime. The problem is, will the child be able to sleep afterwards? In this book, Lumley offers us the most terrible wolf of all his lupine creations – that floury paw and the devastation he causes! On the other hand, every woman who has known pregnancy and child-birth will have a degree of sympathy for the wolf in the last few pages …
The Wolf and the 7 Little Kids, matt boards, Illustrated by Robert Lumley. This book is generally in good condition but for one fault, which can be seen on the photo; the cover is speckled all over with tiny grey dots. Inside the pages are very nice and clean. This copy dates to the mid-1970s and has an original price of 24p on the back.
