Wild Life in Britain, 1972, Series 727 (revised)

£3.50

Wildlife in Britain,  Series 727.

This is the first book in the Conservation series, 727. It was both written and beautifully illustrated by John Leigh-Pemberton.  These books were, in many ways, ahead of their time with their focus on the dangers of neglecting our environment.  This was a topic close to the heart of Editorial Director Douglas Keen.  It is no coincidence that these books, filled with warnings about the need to take action on the environment, came out at the time of his retirement.  He was determined that this message should be emphasised in a series of books to be started before he left.  These books were revised and the series was added to in the late 1970s and 80s.

This copy:

This matt copy has the revised style boards and is in really very good condition inside and out but for a knock which has left a dent near the spine (see photo).  Otherwise only light wear to the boards and nice, clean pages.  It dates to the late-1970s/ early 80s and has the original price of 50p on the back.
