The Ladybird Book of Motor Cars, 1968, Series 584. There were several different editions of this book published as technology changed and Ladybird tried to keep pace. Motor Cars is a ‘spotting’ book – filled with pictures of different cars of the period and the information to identify them. It is illustrated with adapted beautiful painted illustrations rather than photographs, which definitely adds to its charm. It is thought that the illustrations were produced by commercial artists employed by Rover (the employer of the writer whose pen name was ‘David Carey’) but, unsually for Ladybird, the artist is not named.
This copy is in good condition with little wear to the cover. Inside there is a name label on the front endpapers and some ticks/underlining to the list on the back end. These books were so well-loved by their original owners that they are rarely found in pristing condition today – but this is a good copy. It dates from the 1960s and has the original price of 2/6 printed inside.
