The Zoo, 1958, (matt)

£3.00

The Zoo  is the seventh in the ‘Learning to Read’ series, 563.   As with the other books in this series, it was written by educationalist Margaret Gagg.  It is the only book that the artist, Barry Driscoll, illustrated for Ladybird.

Intended as a very first book in the long journey towards reading, the text is written in big, clear type – very simple and very repetitive.  The pictures are big and bold and are designed to appeal to very young children.

In common with all the books in series 563, The Zoo was originally issued with a dustwrapper.

This matt copy is in very condition with light edge wear and a neat name to front endpapers. This copy dates to the 1970s and has the original price of 15p on the back.
