The Shepherd Boy of Bethlehem was the 2nd book to be issued in series 522. (Other bible stories are to be found in an later Ladybird series: 606a.)
It was written by Lucy Diamon, illustrated by Kenneth Inns and was originally issued with a dust jacket. It’s a pity that Inns didn’t illustrate many books for Ladybird; he had a lovely touch and sense of colour.
This copy still has its original dustwrapper (not price-clipped). There’s light wear to the DJ, shelf wear and small marks to the back panel and a small pen mark on the book cover. Inside the reading pages are generally good. The endpapers are grey-brown, open-winged ladybird style, showing that this is an early edition, and a rather charming book plate to the front pastedown, dated 1959.
