Ballet, 1969, Series 662

Ballet was the 3rd book to be issued in series 662.  It was written by Ian Woodward. It is beautifully illustrated by Martin Aitchison.  If as a child you badly wanted ballet lessons, like me,  this book was as close as you could get and I used the endpapers to try to teach myself the 5 basic ballet positions.  If you were lucky enough to have ballet lessons, I expect you were inspired by the Degas-like illustrations of back stage excitement and the dramatic scenes from Swan Lake/

This matt copy is in good condition, inside and out.  There’s a bit of mottling or foxing to the covers and light specks of foxing on the preliminary pages too.  Otherwise it has clean pages and the expected amount of shelf wear. It is an early edition, tally number 370 and dates to the mid-1970s, with an original price of 24p on the back.
