How it Works The Motor Car, 1965 was the first title in the How-it-Works series, 654.  It was written (and apparently also illustrated) by the mysterious David Carey.  Carey is almost certainly a pen-name and the illustrator was likely to be one of the people who had illustrated the car manuals printed by Wills & Hepworth before children’s book publishing became the company focus.

This copy:

Matt boards.  In good condition with good but for a small pen mark and some distinct foxing to the edges of the cover (see photos).  The marks don’t continue to the reading pages which are in good shape.  This copy dates from the 1960s and has the original price of 2/6 printed inside.
