There were 36 book in total in the Key Words reading scheme – the Peter and Jane books. Each of 12 levels was divided into three: a, b and c. The ‘a’ books introduced new vocabularly which was reinforced in the ‘b’ books while the ‘c’ books tended to focus on writing, spelling and phonics. Book 2a was first published in 1964 and revised in the early 1970s. It was written by William Murray and illustrated by Martin Aitchison.
This matt copy is the original 1960s version. It is in very good condition – inside and out with only light wear and nice, clean pages. These early books tended to get a lot of heavy wear at the hands of young users – so this book has done very well. This copy dates to the 1960s has an original price of 2/6 printed inside.
