There were 36 book in total in the Key Words reading scheme – the Peter and Jane books. Each of 12 levels was divided into three: a, b and c. The ‘a’ books introduced new vocabularly which was reinforced in the ‘b’ books while the ‘c’ books tended to focus on writing, spelling and phonics. Book 2a was first published in 1964 and revised in the early 1970s. It was written by William Murray and illustrated by Martin Aitchison.
This matt copy is the original 1960s version. It is nearly in ‘good’ condition outside and inside but for a small area of loss to the head of the spine. The boards are a bit tired and worn and the pages are well-turned but generally clean. This copy dates to the 1960s has an original price of 2/6 printed inside.
