Peter and Jane 5b 1960s (spine damage)

£2.00

There were 36 book in total in the Key Words reading scheme – the Peter and Jane books.  Each of 12 levels was divided into three: a, b and c.  The ‘a’ books introduced new vocabularly which was reinforced in the ‘b’ books while the ‘c’ books tended to focus on writing, spelling and phonics.  Book 5b  We Like to Help was first published in 1965.  It was written by William Murray and illustrated by Frank Hampson.

This matt copy of 5b is the original 1960s version.  It is only in fair condition.  The pages are quite well-turned, there’s a name to the front endpapers, the logo has been coloured-in and it has the usual edge wear but the main problem is the spine damage – the bottom section of spine paper is either missing or replaced with matching red tape.  The book has an original price of 24p on the back.
