This is the 1st book in the Natural History series, 651.  Plants and How they Grow was written by Newing and Bowood and illustrated by Ronald Lampitt.   This book is an attractive balance between picture book and Natural History information guide and shows off Lampitt’s skill in producing accessible and attractive diagrams.  The scope of the book is, of course, very wide so the book covers the topic with a broad brush.

This matt copy is in very  good condition inside and out.  Neat inscription to front endpapers, the odd creased corner, nice, clean pages.  This copy dates to the 1960s and has the original price of 2/6 on the back.  With a tally number of 135, I believe it to be a first edition.
