Stories about Jesus the Friend, Series 606a (DJ) (missing ep)

Stories about Jesus the Friend, 1961) was the 2nd book to be issued in series 606a.  (Other bible stories are to be found in an earlier Ladybird series: 522.)

It was written by Hilda Rostron and illustrated by Clive Uptton.  Uptton also produced many similar bible-story illustrations as the main illustrator for Treasure magazine and as a regular contributor to Look and Learn.

The odd spelling to his surname was to avoid confusion with another artist – to distinguish himself, he simply decided to double the ‘t’.

This copy still has its original dustwrapper (not price-clipped) and would be in Very Good condition inside and out but for one significant fault – the front free endpaper has been carefully removed.  There is a little foxing and wear to the edges of the DJ. As for the book itself, it is in good, clean condition.  With blue open-wing endpapers and the last title listed, I believe it to be a first edition.
