The Ladybird ABC, 1962, series 622

The Ladybird ABC is one of those books which can fairly be described as ‘iconic’.  The lettering, the illustrations (by the mysterious G W Robinson) just hit the spot.  It’s no surprise that this is one of the few books where the illustrations can be bought in (expensive, art-quality) poster form.  It was originally issued with a dustwrapper but, for some reason, is one of the hardest books to track down in this form.

This copy  has matt boards and dates from the 1970s so never had a dustwrapper.  It’s in very good condition inside and out – better, less grubby, than it looks in the photos – with clean pages which have been turned but are still good.  A nice copy of a lovely, evocative book.
