The Nurse, Series 606b, 1963 matt

The Nurse, 1963 was the 3rd book to be issued in series 606b.  It was written by Vera Southgate and I and J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry.   This book is one of my earliest Ladybird memories; there were precious few books about jobs that centred women and, although I never wanted to be a nurse, this book was nearly enough to make me re-think.  From what I’ve heard since, so many girls decided on a career in nursing after reading it.  Earliest copies of this book were published with a dustwrapper.

This matt copy is in very good condition inside and out (small area of damage head of spine, name and date top of title page).  Otherwise only light wear to the boards and very nice clean pages.  It dates to the 1970s  and has an original price of 18p on the back.
