The Postman, Series 606b (1st ed)

£6.50

The Postman 1965 was the 7th book to be issued in series 606b.  It was written by Vera Southgate and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry.   The full title of this book is ‘The Postman and the Postal Service’ and it contains some lovely, evocative images of the labour-intensive (but efficient) service of the 1960s and 70s – including the speeding mail trains and those metal arms that snatched pouches of letters as the train passed.  Today, this is relatively hard-to-find title.

This matt copy is in good condition externally and VG inside. Heavy wear to the spine and edges but nice, clean pages.  It dates from the 1960s, has an original price of 2/6 printed inside and, with a tally number of 140, I believe it to be a first edition.
