The Ship Builders, Series 606b

£4.00

The Ship Builders, 1969 was the 14th book to be issued in series 606b.  It was written by I & J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry.   This book focuses on the history of British shipbuilding and uses as its main example comtemporary illustrations from photographs of the building of the QE2.  It’s a real slice of British 20th century history.

This copy:

This matt copy has quite a lot of edge wear especially head and foot of spine and, if you look closely, you’ll see marks and a name to the cover (see photos).   Otherwise, the book is in very good condition with nice, clean pages. It dates from the 1960s and has the original price of 2/6 on the back.  With a tally number of 230, I believe it to be a first edition.
