The Story of Theatre, 1970, Series 662 (1st ed)

The Story of Theatre was first published in 1970 and was the 6th title in  series, 662  – music and performance.  It was brilliantly illustrated by Martin Aitchison and was written by L Du Garde Peach (better known in Ladybird world for writing most of the History series books).  Peach was himself a playwright and his love of the theatre adds colour to Aitchison’s lively, dynamic pictures.

This matt copy is in excellent condition inside and out but for a single brown spot on the front endpapers that can just be seen on the first couple of text pages.  Otherwise, very little wear and clean, tight pages.  This copy dates to around 1970 and, with a tally number of 260, I believe it to be a first edition.
