This book is written by Allen White, with lively, vibrant illustrations by Robert Ayton.  It’s Ayton’s story-telling ability as an illustrator that makes a static subject dynamic and made me resolve, every year as a child, that that was the year I would start collecting rocks and fossils.

This matt copy is in excellent condition inside and out. Unusually little wear to the boards and nice clean pages.  It dates to the 1970s and has the original price of 15p on the back.
