The Wise Robin, 1950 (scruffy)

£4.00

The Wise Robin is the third in the ‘Animal Stories’ series, 497.   As with the other books in this series, it was written by Noel Barr and illustrated by Percy Hickling.

This is a storybook intended to be read to young children.  Most of the stories deal with ‘naughty’ animals and the lessons they learn by the end of the book.  This story is a little different as The Robin is actually praised for his quick thinking and resourcefulness.  So it’s a very positive little story and perfect for Christmas.  The earliest copies of this book were originally published with a dustwrapper.

This copy:

A matt copy in very good condition internally but only fair externally.  There are a lot of scars to the cover – especially the edges  and bottom back corner -and a patch of loss head of spine.  Inside there is some light foxing to the preliminaries – but the pages are still clean and fresh.  This copy dates to the 1960s and has the original price of 2/6 printed inside.
