Kings and Queens of England, Book 1, 1968 (blue)

The first of the two ‘Kings and Queens’ books of the 1960s, written by L du Garde Peach. This title was later revised – first to give it a new-look cover and then subsequently it was completely re-written and re-illustrated (taking away just about all of its considerable charm in the process).
The vivid, startling illustrations of the original version are by Frank Hampson. All the other history books of this era (Series 561) are illustrated by John Kenney.

This copy has the later style blue ‘window’ boards instead of the earlier full-page cover picture boards but otherwise this is the original version. This copy is in VG condition inside and out.  rubbing to base of spine, a name stamp to the front endpapers, very nice, clean pages.  This copy dates to the 1970s and has the original price of 40p on the back.
