British Wild Flowers, 1957 edition.  Series 536.

The illustrations of the beautiful book are a collaboration between a  husband and wife team.  The great watercolour artist Rowland Hilder painted the background while Edith Hilder produced the exquisite foreground botanical studies.  The two also collaborated with equal success on the Shell Guide posters of the same decade.

This copy

This copy still has its original dustwrapper which is not price-clipped.  The dj is in pretty tired condition with minor loss, nicks and small tears to all corners and a faint number to the top right hand corner along with clear wear to the spine panel edges. Inside, the book itself is in very good condition, with a green line drawing under the DJ.  It is a little bumped head and foot and there are some light id stamps to the endpapers. The book has grey-brown open wing endpapers and nice, clean pages.
