Flight Five Africa was the 5th of the Travel Adventure series, 587, written by David Scott Daniell and boldly illustrated by Jack Matthew. The series featured two children, Alison and John accompanying Daddy on exciting trips around the world. Alison and John are very eager beavers, always keen to research their destination, study maps and learn more about social and geo-political history. So this makes them fascinating reading today – capturing as it does the lingering assumptions of empire, of Commonwealth and of a burgeoning new world order that still places Britain at its centre. The early versions of the book are to be found with dustwrapper.
This copy still has its original, unclipped DJ. This is a good copy – with an unclipped DJ, only light wear to DJ and a sunned spine panel. It has the following faults all of which can be seen in the photos: a 3cm tear towards the top of the spine panel, ticks on the back dj flap and a name on the free endpaper. The book itself has little wear and nice clean, tight pages. There is no logo on the DJ spine and I believe this to be a first edition.
