Flight six The Holy Land (missing DJ)

£3.50

Flight six The Holy Land was the 6th and last of the Travel Adventure series, 587, written by David Scott Daniell and boldly illustrated by Jack Matthew.  The series featured two children, Alison and John accompanying Daddy on exciting trips around the world.  Alison and John are very eager beavers, always keen to research their destination, study maps and learn more about social and geo-political history.  So this makes them fascinating reading today – capturing as it does the lingering assumptions of empire, of Commonwealth and of a burgeoning new world order that still places Britain at its centre.  The early versions of the book are to be found with dustwrapper.  This book steers a careful path through an area of geo-politics that must have been problematic even at the time.  The choice of the name ‘Holy Land’ probably reflects this.

This copy still has lost its dustwrapper.  It is in very good condition externally, showing very little wear, and would be very good inside too – but for a large scar on the front endpapers where a book plate used to be.  The reading pages are clean and bright.
