Flight Three – USA was the third of the Travel Adventure series, 587, written by David Scott Daniell and boldly illustrated by Jack Matthew. The series featured two children, Alison and John accompanying Daddy on exciting trips around the world. Alison and John are very eager beavers, always keen to research their destination, study maps and learn more about social and geo-political history. So this makes them fascinating reading today – capturing as it does the lingering assumptions of empire, of Commonwealth and of a burgeoning new world order that still places Britain at its centre. The early versions of the book are to be found with dustwrapper.
Matt copy The book is in good condition but for one notable flaw. The cover and spine are in gret condition. There’s a bit of foxing on the back cover. But the main problem with the book is a residue mark on the endpapers. It’s light at the front but dark at the back and shows through onto the last picture page. The rest of the pages are in great shape. This book dates to the late-1960s and has an original price of 2/6 printed inside.
