The Fireman 1962 was the 1st book to be issued in series 606b. It was written by Vera Southgate and J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry. This book is one of my earliest Ladybird memories; I loved all the exciting scenes of red fire-engines, dramatic rescues and the wondeful fireman’s pole scene.
This copy still has it’s original DJ – not price-clipped. The DJ is very tired and worn, as I think you can see in the photo – and is now protected by a removeable sleeve (that’s the shine in the picture). There’s rubbing, chipping and some loss at all extremities. The book is in good, used condition with well-turned reading pages. I believe this copy to be a first edition.
