What to Look for in Summer, 1960 (with DJ, 1st ed)

What to Look for in Summer, with original dustwrapper.

This was the second book in the 4 ‘What to Look for’ Four Seasons books of series 536.  These books are a wonderful collaboration of beautiful prose, by E L Grant Watson and the stylish, evocative and nostalgic illustrations of C F Tunnicliffe.

This copy

This copy still has its original dustwrapper – not price-clipped but well worn.  The DJ edges are chipped with small patches of minor loss.  The spine panel is particularly worn and rubbed with minor loss head and foot.  This is an ex-library copy and must have once been protected by some sort of DJ protector.  The only sign of this now are marks to the endpapers inc front free endpaper – a shadow of where tape must have once been used to hold it in place.  The hinges of the endpapers have also been reinforced by tape and there is a library book plate (rather an old, evocative one).  But the book has not been badly used in its long life; the pages are in pretty good shape.  With the blue, open-wing endpapers and the green vignette on the front cover I believe this to be a first edition.
