The Builder, Series 606b (DJ)

£5.00

The Builder 1965 was the 6th book to be issued in series 606b and was the last one originally to have been issued with a dustwrapper.  It was written by I & J Havenhand and, like all the books in this series, was beautifully, lovingly illustrated by John Berry.   This book traces the process of building domestic and commercial premises from the concept stage to completion.  It was written at a time when we thought every building would very shortly be prefabricated.

This  copy is just about in good condition.  The dustwrapper has a crease down the back panel, edge wear and some foxing (see photo).  It is now protected in a removeable clear sleeve.  The reading pages are in very good condition.  I believe it to be a first edition and therefore dates from 1965.   This was the last book in the series to have been originally published with a DJ so not many of them were issued before the move to matt boards.  That makes it the hardest one to find with DJ.
